Dropbear
Dropbear is a small SSH 2 server and client. Dropbear is regularly used to provide
SSH on embedded devices such as wireless routers and access points.
Carbon Mountain uses dropbear to provide SSH 2 server and client capabilities to KaOS™. Dropbear was
selected due to its size, functionality and stability. For the same reasons busybox is used in lieu of full-featured
GNU utilities, dropbear is used in lieu of OpenSSH by default due to its relatively small size. Dropbear can be
swapped out within KaOS™ for OpenSSH once the initial ramdisk has booted. Dropbear is an Open Source project.
Dropbear is a core component in KaOS™ and an optional component in vKaOS™ and the KaOS™ SDK.
