Cloudinit: Cloud Integration Controller

Cloudinit unifies your data center with public clouds, matching computing resources with

demand by dynamically provisioning applications on one or more clouds...

Cloudinit is a policy driven network appliance that automates the provisioning and management of public cloud instances without requiring network topology changes. A software appliance running on industry standard server, Cloudinit resides in your network at the same location as an additional server. It polls up to 10 widely used cloud providers to compare resources and costs, launching one or more application instances in the optimal cloud dynamically or on demand.

Cloudinit can be deployed as a standalone network appliance solution or integrated with a KaOS hypervisor as a Cloud Integration Fabric.

Take control of the Cloud

Lower administrative costs by automating provisioning, de-provisioning and monitoring of application instances in the cloud.

Decrease acquisition costs via automatically comparing pricing from up to 10 cloud providers and selecting the low-cost cloud provider that meets your applications requirements.

Increase control over cloud costs through policy-based scaling to ensure that cloud sessions are there when you need them and de-provisioned when they are no longer required. Calendar-based scheduling and preset expenditure levels help you manage your cloud use and your budget.

Boost application availability and reliability using event-based triggering, policy-based monitoring and health checks that provide dynamic scalability and fault-tolerant capability to your applications.

Enhance application scalability as a result of continual resource and demand monitoring, with new application instances provisioned in the cloud quickly after pre-configured trigger thresholds are hit.

Cloudinit is easy to deploy and manage. It works in your existing network topology, able to be used in conjunction with an existing application delivery controller (ADC) and providing basic traffic management in the absence of an ADC.

Integrate with existing ADCs

As depicted below, when used in conjunction with an ADC, Cloudint appears to the ADC as a local server. When cloud instances are active and healthy, Cloudinit receives requests from the ADC and sends them to a cloud instance based on the selected cloud balancing algorithm.

Controller Mode

As depicted below, when used without an application delivery controller (ADC), Cloudinit acts as a DNS Authorative Name Server (ANS), using DNS load balancing and the configured cloud balancing algorithm to distribute requests among local servers and public clouds. For HTTP and HTTPS, HTTP 302 redirects can also be used to distribute traffic and make best use of available bandwidth.
